thirteenth fusion

Damn but it's been a while since I've done this.

Three Pokemon for sale! Togetic at level twenty-eight, a female, cheerful, name of Beatrice. A Happiny at level twenty-seven, sweet but a little spoiled, female as well. Answers to Mary. And then an Altaria at thirty-six, a male, a little scattered. Name me your price and we'll haggle it out.

On the road again at last with hardly a care in sight. I'm the last you'll hear complaining about a life of traveling freely but lately I've had the feeling of turning a wheel over and over when it's not firm on the axle. Traveling and winning battles and having the money to continue doing so but where are we going after all. Once Pokemon are at the hundredth level can they really grow no stronger? It seems disheartening. I hope that spells out nothing about humans. I shudder to think I could look up and into the future and see a wall where an ever rising road could be.

I've languished these past weeks and only of my own failing. Come and gab and have me make a friend of you. Or a rival if you'd rather.

Finding yourself retracing your steps along the road tends to happen long before you truly hit a wall, in my experience.

[But if that had not been the case, would he have been able to- No. Pondering that is meaning less now.]

But you can still use external sources to improve, just as a Pokémon can learn additional attacks from TMs or Move Tutors.

Be it due to time or lack of use, skills both physical and magical fade away, turn rusty. You might find yourself relearning them twice or thrice throughout your life.

[That's what happens when your level is reset for the next game.]

,,,From a purely martial point of view, it is indeed wasted. But unless you happen to spend years doing absolutely nothing, you'll be learning other skills in the meantime. Besides, the second attempt is always easier than the first.

Well, of course. Which is why the relative ease of the second time is a blessing. I've not yet met someone who was tested by the world and found wanting, even if their skills were rusty.

[Which is technically true. One does not meet one's self, after all.]

Kings and princesses, mages and ninjas, monks and bards, dragoons and engineers. All strong enough to take on the whole world if they need to.

Filled with dangerous monsters with a taste for humans flesh and beings from other planets that wish to enslave humanity or destroy it. But both the overworld and the underworld have their own beauty, and every town or village offers a warm welcome to travelers. I love it.

['All of the above' is a very strong possibility.]

You're not, by far. But we already know that this world can somehow transport us, and I can confirm that certain gods also have that power. If we could understand how they do so, we could perhaps also control that ability.

[It's the main reason he wishes Cosmos would be brought here, sometimes. And every time he feels guilty for even thinking it.]

...Barring the sort of miracle that this world can create, chasing down dead gods is a fool's endeavor. Cosmos and Chaos themselves would be of little help. But if they've left writings or artifacts behind...

I've never met them. Never hear of them. ...But I'd not be surprised if they were Pokémon, or considered as such.
