Mhmm...as one of our religions goes, it's celebrating the day when humanity's savior was born. The Son of God supposedly became a human for the sake of dying for our sins, in a way that was overly dramatic and intended to guilt humanity for the rest of their existence, and entirely unnecessary, when you think about it. Something like that. I...think it might be based on some sort of pagan holidays, but I've never looked into that.

On a more secular level...just trust me on the "give people things if you don't want to look like a socially inept idiot."
