[...Alright, Walter figures it's about time to make a concerted check-in effort now that he's not in immediate danger and the sun is up again. He hasn't slept yet, having chosen to travel throughout the night. He's caught a useful not-demon that is NOT A FISH, he's figured out where he stands as far as food is concerned, he knows roughly where he's going, and...that's about it. It's enough for now, but sooner or later he's going to hit a dead end for lack of information, and he doesn't like flying blind.]
Commander?....Abbot? [If they're able to communicate through these things that are definitely not Gauntlets, it's worth a shot. But considering that it's been a full day. and he's gotten radio silence from anyone he recognizes...]
[His eyebrows furrow, and he glances away from the Gear for a moment and back with a serious expression.] From what I've gathered, there's a large number who can hear what I say when I use this...this. [Graceful. But he has no idea what to call it, since it's not exactly a glove, so.] I'm looking for people dressed the same way as I, if anyone feels so inclined to aid me. They might call themselves "Samurai", or hail from the "Eastern Kingdom of Mikado".
[Since this foreign world definitely isn't anywhere in Mikado, that should ping comrades and countrymen alike. A thought occurs to Walter after that; what of the rest of his world? Samurai were familiar, but they weren't always the best-informed about what lay beyond their kingdom - Aquila's code had seen to that. The Unclean Ones don't call themselves Unclean Ones (and why should they?), so how...?
...oh, wait, that's how. Duh.]
I'd speak as well with anyone from Tokyo, or who knows of demons. [Since they...evidently don't have demons here. It's a long shot, but whatever.] ...Or anyone who knows how I can get a better..."Pokemon" than these. Are they all this size?

He almost got excited, but he comes onto the feed, his Hoothoot in the background.]
There are many different Pokemon, I've heard. Some of them are larger - though I've not seen any of those in-person... not yet.

talk to them]

[Pacts...?]
Did you work with creatures, in your home land?

I'm from Tokyo and know about demons.
[Atsuro's pretty damn sure this guy isn't from his world. If he is--which isn't likely, since he didn't know anything about Mikado, but then again, Japanese history is a bit if a weak subject for him--just not from the same time period. Ye olde demon tamer? Someone who fight demons? Hm.]
Then can I trouble you to explain how these Pokemon differ from them? I'd not wish to go too long without knowing the dangers.
Atsuro settles into expositioning easily enough. The difference between demons and Pokemon is something he didn't get a lot of chance to talk about. Because who else deals with demons and have contracts with them?]
The main difference between them are communication and how we get them into our rosters. Most Pokemon can't talk in our language, but they can understand is pretty well. It's possible to teach them, but it's rare and a lot of work. It's not like most demons who can talk to us. The exception are psychic-types, who can learn to directly communicate with us via telepathy.
Getting Pokemon to join us is usually a matter of wearing them down and capturing them, hatched them from eggs, trade for one or they willingly choose to join you. You don't have to beat them and form a contract, or buy their service from the auction.

But does he want to answer?]
A bunch of 'em are huge. There are rock snakes, huge birds... even dragons. [ -- and as an after thought -- ] Why do you want to know someone who knows demons?
I wished to know how much like them Pokemon are. I think I've gotten my answer.
...But he did want to add something more. He had his own questions to ask the Samurai, but since he was being pretty secretive himself, it didn't seem right.] ...Though I haven't met any like that, I'm sure there can be Pokémon that are pretty demonic. Some demons aren't really all about destruction.

[With that said, there's something else that's caught Riku's ear.]
So, you're a Samurai?
video
[And yes, he is a Samurai.] In the very flesh.
video
[But he hasn't had too much personal training with them. It's all based on observation and... well, the Pokédex.]
But, man, a real samurai... I'd say you'd fit in with all the ninjas, but I'd probably just sound ignorant. There's gotta be at least some differences, right?

I'm from Tokyo. [ Let's say Hope's Peak is there and call it a day since canon never actually mentions where it is. ]
I don't know anything about demons, though... Anyway, you get new Pokémon by catching wild ones using Pokéballs, or by getting them as eggs and making them hatch. Some species are pretty big; my Arcanine, a fire-breathing dog, is big enough for me to ride on.

And it lets you? [He can't imagine Orthrus letting anyone or anything on its back, if the one encounter was any indication. Damn, that sounds cool.

And wasn't Tokyo on Earth?
Anyway, no, Pokemon aren't all that size, there's a bunch of different kinds and sizes and natures and all kinds of things, if you know where to look. [She laughs, taking pity on him.] Or if you really want something specific, you can try to get an egg to hatch.
But uh, in oth...er news...] Ah...may I ask where it is you're from, then?
Me? I'm from space. [She smiles cheerily, as if everyone can say that with perfect seriousness.] Well, sort of. The name for where I'm actually from doesn't translate very well into... pretty much any language, so space covers it just as well.

How do I go about that?

I personally recommend a fire or dark type, as they tend to be quite powerful.

I don't know anything about any samurai from some kingdom, but if you're still lookin' to talk to someone from Tokyo who knows a thing or two about demons, I've got some time.
[God knows there's not a hell of a lot to do in this cavern aside from trip over rocks with arms and then listen to your friends make fun of you for it. :I]
What were you wanting to know?
video;
If you've dealt with demons before, it'd help to know what you think of Pokemon in comparison. [Let's not elaborate on the Mikado stuff, since the last two or so times that happened, people started freaking out about angels coming to kill them.]
